Reveal Yourself - Nourish with Self Care

Self-care is a way to come home to yourself. It can really be anything that fills your cup and brings you to a place of kindness and connection. But most importantly, self-care is more about how you do than what you do. Because my work is about bridging the gap between the physical and the magical other, I’m gonna walk you through simple steps to move into a physical self-care routine.

There are three main elements for setting the foundation for a healing routine. Before you begin, take a moment to pause whatever you are doing. Take 3 deep breaths. Getting centered allows you to mentally focus, honor your body, and nourish your spirit.

Feel your feet, connect

Breathe deeply

Offer yourself kindness

Self-care starts with awareness. To start, feel your feet on the ground/in your shoes. It really can be any part, but I find the feet are relatively free of emotional attachment. Wiggle your toes, notice the touch of your feet on whatever you are standing on. Bring all of your attention to them. It’s your feet that carry you and connect you to the earth. It’s your feet really make you human.

Next, stay with your feet and take a full breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. As you inhale, imagine you are feeding the earth with your breath. As you exhale, receive the support below you. You don’t have to hold the world up, she will hold you.

As you are stand fully human on the earth, allow yourself the space to be as you are right now. Bring kindness to yourself, free of needs from others, to and let it fill you up. Your only job in this moment is to offer compassion to yourself and receive that compassion.

Whether it is a physical injury, a mental state or a spiritual crisis that drives you to find more internal resources, the process is the same. Come home to yourself by activating physical awareness and kindness. Try this one time a day to start. Within you lie all the answers you need.
